Bradford L. “Brad” Whitney, 66, of Eldridge, Iowa, died Friday, August 5, 2016 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the services on Thursday at the funeral home.  A celebration of life will be held at Slaby’s Bar & Grill in Walcott (Plainview) on Friday evening (August 12th) from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Eldridge, the American Cancer Society or to the National Rifle Association.

Brad was born September 19, 1949 in Canton, Illinois, the son of Ernest A. & Verna (Gibble) Whitney.  He was united in marriage to Susan M. Rothfus on April 24, 1970 in Bouton, Iowa.

Brad drove a truck for Dimock-Gould & Company for 25 years.  He then drove for Wonder Bread until his retirement in 2004.  His memberships included Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge, the National Rifle Association, Teamsters Local 371 and the Bass Fisherman’s Club.  Some of his hobbies included fishing, golfing and hunting.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife; his daughter, Jodi (Matt) Freund of Eldridge; his son, Brian Whitney of Brimfield, Illinois; his grandchildren, Olivia and Emily Freund and Emma, Becca, Jackson and Owen Whitney; his sisters, Bev Bircher of Winterset, Iowa, Sue Hartwigsen of DeSoto, Iowa and Rose Lulla of Omaha, Nebraska; and his brothers, John Whitney of Atlantic, Iowa and Alan Whitney of Ft. Mohave, Arizona.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents.
