Brenda Haynes

Brenda S. Haynes, 65, of Bettendorf, Iowa died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 9, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf and one hour before the services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.

Brenda was born June 12, 1945 in Owensboro, Kentucky, the daughter of Wallace & Opal (Fuqua) Chaffin. She was united in marriage to Ronald T. Haynes on February 28, 1963 in Shawneetown, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2003.

Brenda was employed in the food service department with the Bettendorf Community School District for many years. Among the things she enjoyed were cross-stitching, crocheting, reading and playing cards. She especially enjoyed being with her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Katharine & Sean Barnhill of Donahue, Iowa; her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffery & Marcy Haynes of Olympia, Washington and Christopher & Melissa Haynes of Colona, Illinois; her grandchildren, Zachary, Sean, Jason, Megan, Kai and Collin; her sisters, Betty Coffield, Shirley Clements, Anita Payne, Mary Shreve, Barbara Chaffin and Debbie Decaussin; and her brothers, Alva Chaffin and Larry Chaffin.

In addition to her husband, Ron, Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Michael Chaffin.
