Carl D. "Doug" Ducey

Davenport

Carl D. “Doug” Ducey, 72, of Davenport passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at St. Anthony’s Continuing Care in Rock Island, Illinois following complications from diabetes. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2nd at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be at a later date at Highland Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Doug was born on June 30, 1952 in Moline, Illinois the son of Carl and Leah (German) Ducey. He grew up in Mystic, Iowa just a few miles northwest of Centerville. He and his brothers were raised by their grandparents, Gene and Ardis German. The Ducey family instilled in Doug their values of honesty and hard work.

Doug graduated with the Class of 1970 from Centerville High School. While in school he began his twenty-year career at HyVee, but he was perhaps the best guitar player and musician most of us will ever personally know. He played in many Iowa bands over the years, as well as performing professionally with Lee Greenwood, Carl Perkins, Tanya Tucker, Little Jimmy Dickens, and others. His bands are well known in Iowa and they have been opening acts for greats like, The Buckinghams, The Grass Roots, The Rumbles, The Fabulous Flippers, and other very well known groups. He was a multi-talented entertainer and will be well remembered for his work in and love of music by all who knew him.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 40 years, Sue Ducey of Davenport; his sons, Jeremy (Heather) Ducey of Knoxville, Iowa, Bill (Julie) Barker of Davenport, and Ken Barker of Davenport; six grandchildren, Leah and Olivia Ducey, Cassidy, Kaitlynne, and Killian Barker, and Tobias Barker; brother, David (LeAnn) Ducey of Des Moines; niece, Jennifer Sargent; nephew, Thad Ducey; and four great-nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jason Ducey; and brother, John E. “Gene” Ducey.
