Carl Henderkott

Carl A. Henderkott, 77, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, December 27, 2010 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County.

Carl was born February 24, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Herman G. & Anna (Moelin) Henderkott.

He was united in marriage to Sharon L. VanAlstine on May 20, 1961 in LeClaire, Iowa. She preceded him in death on August 18, 2002.

Carl retired from J.I. Case Corporate Fleet in 1992 after fifteen years of service. Following his retirement, he was employed as a truck driving instructor at Scott Community College. He had also served as a Bettendorf Auxiliary Police Officer and with the Bettendorf Volunteer Fire Department. Carl had also been a member of the Davenport Moose Lodge.

Those left to honor his memory include his son, Dennis Henderkott of Bouvier, Missouri; three granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, William Henderkott of Bettendorf; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Sharon, Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Elsie Ohrberg, Edna Smith, Clara Smith and Viola Lopshire; and his brother, Henry.
