Carl E. Shumate

Carl E. Shumate, 75, a resident of Mediapolis, Iowa died on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Mediapolis.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post of Mediapolis.
He was born November 10, 1931 in Lebanon, Missouri, the son of Tom & Eula (Shadrick) Shumate.
During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and was honorably discharged.
His memberships included the American Legion of Mediapolis and the Disabled American Veterans.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Paula (Max) Steinbach of Chino Valley, Arizona; his granddaughter, Kristie Steinbach of San Diego, California; his mother, Eula Shumate of Mediapolis; and his sisters, Shirley (Gary) Nations of Wapello, Iowa and Hazel (John) Nations of Forsyth, Missouri.
Carl was preceded in death by his father; his sister, Pat; and his brothers, Floyd and Boyd.
