Carleen L. Mead, 69, a resident of Montpelier, Iowa died Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 14, 2008 at Rose Hill Cemetery, Buffalo, Iowa. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Friday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the family.
Carleen was born June 12, 1939 in Davenport, the daughter of George and Minnie (Boyer) Kaucher. She was united in marriage to Claude L. Mead on July 20, 1957 in Buffalo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2005.
Carleen worked as a billing manager for the Austin Texas Phone Company.
She enjoyed camping and visiting with family. She often stayed up late to watch CSI and Law and Order. In her younger years She enjoyed bowling with her sisters and in the past few years, when she was feeling up to it, she would go for rides on Mr. Perfect’s (Jeremie) her grandson’s motorcycle and do a little gambling with her grandson, Josh.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Claudean (Darrell) Critten of Montpelier, Cathryn Cormier and Christine Mead of Austin, Texas; her son, Charles L. Mead (Tammy) of Foley, Alabama; her grandchildren, Jeremie (Tammy), Josh, Latadrick, Jacob, Ronnie, Little Chuckie, Tevon, Trevon and James; her great-grandchildren, Hayley, Kaitlyn and Isabelle; her sisters Patricia (Les) Bufington of Buffalo, Judy Jewett of Buffalo, Marie Derrickson of Buffalo and Helen Kaucher of Blue Grass, Iowa; her brothers, James (Ginger) Kaucher of Davenport and George “Fritz” (Jan) Kaucher of Davenport and several nieces and nephews. her mother-in law Lulu Mead.
Along with her husband Claude, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers-in-law Ralph Jewett and Donald “Doc” Derrickson and her nephew, Gerald Buffington; her father-in law, Claude E. Mead.
