Carol Briggs

Funeral services for Carol A. Briggs, 85, of Davenport, will be 11:00 am on Friday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa. Family will greet friends on Friday from 10:00 am to service time at the funeral home.

Carol passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, at UnityPoint Health, Bettendorf, Iowa. Carol A. Ludtke was born on May 19, 1936, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Willis and Julia Engels Ludtke.  She married Dale Briggs on April 16, 1955, in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1997.

Carol worked at the phone company in her high school years. She later worked at Dad’s Cookie Company and for the Visiting Nurses, taking care of Isabelle Bloom. She enjoyed roller skating at Skateland on Brady St. where she met her husband Dale. Her hobbies were planting flowers, baking and going to the farmer’s market.

Survived include her children, Deb Briggs of Davenport, Iowa, Dawn Briggs of Davenport, Iowa, Mike Briggs of Davenport, Iowa, Bryan (Connie) Briggs of Bettendorf, Iowa, Dan Briggs of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Dale-Allen (Wilma) Briggs of Texas. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a sister, Dorothy Curtis of Donahue, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Darren Briggs, Timmy Briggs and a grandson, Kyle Briggs.

Memorials may be directed to the Veteran’s Affairs. There is a brunch after her service at the Knights of Columbus club, 1111 W. 35th St. Davenport. All are welcome.
