Carolyn Kay Schmidt (Fox), 60, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Monday, December 25, 2006 at Bettendorf Health Care Center after a long struggle with diabetes disease.
Her funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Family interment services will be held Saturday Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Carolyn was born July 2, 1946, the daughter of Jim and Nellie (Fry) Fox and was a 1963 graduate of Bettendorf High School. She may also be known by her previous married name of Napier.
Carolyn was best recognized for her service to the City of Bettendorf while employed as a sanitation worker (garbage lady) from 1979-2002. Initially, she was hired as part of a pilot program which hired females to substitute for the male work force. Her hard work and professionalism were evident by the citizens she served.
Carolyn loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping & fishing.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Joseph (Nichole) Kerker of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Tammy (Kevin) Seymour of Moline Illinois and James (Amy) Kerker of Marysville, Ohio; four grandchildren: Brittany, Zachary, Shelby and Emily; her brothers and sisters, Ernie (Marsha) Fox of Bettendorf, Joretta (Bob) Dixon of Arvada Colorado, Jim (Sandy) Fox of Appleton, Wisconsin, John (Jodeen) Fox of Bettendorf, Ron (Laura) Fox of Bettendorf and Dan (Chris) Fox of Bettendorf.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elizabeth Fox.
