Cathy J. Bealer

Cathy J. Bealer, 69, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa died Monday, March 14, 2005 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She & her husband, Kurt were returning home from Hawaii when she became ill during the flight. The plane made an emergency landing in Kansas City where she was hospitalized and later, passed away.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 18, 2005 at the Eldridge United Methodist Church where she was a long-time member. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge. Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born March 8, 1936 in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Alexander & Mildred (Offerman) MacLean and was a graduate of Rock Island High School. On June 20, 1954, she was united in marriage to Kurt K. Bealer in Rock Island.
Cathy spent most of her working career at the former Davenport Osteopathic Hospital and retired from Davenport One several years ago.

Cathy was proud of her Scottish heritage and loved attending the Highland Games with Kurt. She was an avid member of the Mayflower Society and a former member of the Rainbow Girls and the Order of the Eastern Star. In earlier years, she had been a leader for Brownie Scouts, Girl Scouts & Cub Scouts.
She rarely missed a school activity, an athletic event, a dance recital, a church event or a multitude of other family activities over the years. Cathy took great pleasure in helping to plan her daughter’s weddings and was always there as a family “cheerleader.” Her family was the joy of her life and though she will be sadly missed, her love & devotion will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Kurt; her daughters & their husbands, Christine & Dr. William Rosen of Eldridge, Cindy & Rick Kuehner of Park View, Iowa and Cheryl & Dennis Shuppy of Eldridge; her sons & their wives, Kurt & Robin Bealer Jr. of Geneseo, Illinois; and Information System Technician Petty Officer 1st Class Surface Warfare, John Bealer & his wife, Susan of Waipahu, Hawaii; twenty-two grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and her brother & his wife, James & Loretta MacLean of Huntsville, Alabama.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents.
