Cecil B. Pickard, 84, a resident of Davenport, Iowa and formerly of Omaha, Nebraska died on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Manor Care Nursing Center, Davenport.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 3, 2006 at St. James Lutheran Church of Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Friday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the West Lawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
He was born March 13, 1921 in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of William & Nellie (Green) Pickard. On May 7, 1942, he was united in marriage to Carol Jean Holmes in Elkhorn, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on December 2, 1994.
Cecil was employed as a buyer for over 40 years for the Wright & Wilhelmy Wholesale Hardware Company in Omaha.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with the 376th Infantry and was honorably discharged in 1945.
He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Bettendorf and a former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Omaha
During his leisure time, he enjoyed playing golf with his friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters & son-in-law, Nancy & Dennis Boehme of Davenport and Cynthia Pickard of Scottsdale, Arizona; his granddaughter & her husband, Denise & Chad Alexander and their son, Caden, all of Huntley, Illinois and his grandson, Keith Boehme of Davenport.
