Celia E. Ferris

Celia E. Ferris, 94, of Rock Island, Illinois died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Kahl Home for Aged in Davenport, Iowa.
Celia was born May 10, 1914 in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Fred & Margaret Davidson. She married Ralph Ferris on January 1, 1932 in DeKalb, Illinois. They were divorced in 1943 and Celia never remarried.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Winston and Bob; and by her sister, Flo.
Early in her career, she was employed by Sears Roebuck in Sterling, Illinois. She later worked as office manager for the United Steel Workers Union #63 in Sterling for 12 years and was a supervisor at Olin Mills for three years.
One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards (Pitch). She also enjoyed traveling and claimed she had visited all 50 states.
Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Ken & Audrey Ferris of Bettendorf, Iowa; her sister, Mary Jane Headley of Kearney, Missouri; one grandson, Kevin Ferris; two granddaughters, Schary (Crick) SantAmour and Tonya (Brian) Ranum; and four great-grandchildren, Cooper & Summer SantAmour and Reese & Chloe Ranum.
In accordance with Celia’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Following cremation, her remains will be laid to rest at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, Illinois. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
