Spc. Chad Patrick Dellit, 22, of Sarasota, FL and the Quad City area, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in Fayetteville, NC.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf, with Pastors Wendall Davelaar and Phillip Stel officiating. Burial with full military rites will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be Thursday, September 29 th from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home and 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Chad Patrick Dellit Memorial Fund.
Chad was born July 17, 1989 in Muskegon, MI, the son of Todd and Teresa (Curtis) Dellit. He graduated from Riverview High School, Sarasota, FL in 2007. He was a night manager at Albertson’s Grocery in Sarasota, FL. He was a member of Beneva Christian Church, Sarasota, FL where he was actively involved in the church youth group. Chad enlisted in the United States Army on September 23, 2008 in Fort Jackson, SC and was assigned to the 100 th Engineer Company, 30 th Engineer Battalion, 20 th Engineer Brigade stationed at Fort Bragg, NC where he training to be a geospatial engineer. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, mudding and carpentry. He was a jack-of-all trades who was mechanically inclined and was an excellent soldier who would do anything for his fellow comrades.
Chad is survived by, his parents, Todd and Teresa Dellit, LeClaire; one sister, Robin Marie Dellit, Muskegon, MI; maternal grandparents, Roy and Mary Curtis and Kathy Curtis, all of Muskegon, MI; two special friends, Manuel Martinez and Wade Feazell.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald Gene and Patricia Ann Dellit.
