Charlene “Sandy” Mohr, 84, of Davenport, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Davenport Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Davenport, and will also be live streamed on the church’s Facebook page for those who are unable to attend. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Those attending services are encouraged to practice social distancing, and masks are required. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to or to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
Sandy was born on December 23, 1935 in Scott County, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Louise (Moeller) Groth. She was baptized into her church on February 26, 1936. On May 30, 1972, she married Lyle W. Mohr in Bettendorf. Sandy worked as registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital and at the Davenport Lutheran Home. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, as well. Sandy was a member at Holy Cross Lutheran Church for many years, where she was active in the Alltruistic Guild, church choir, and devoted many hours to sewing church banners. She was known as a great cook and for her love of baking, especially pies.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Lori (Jim) Long, Cliff (Cheryl) Neilson, Randy (Kathi) Neilson, Bill (Jo Ann) Neilson, Curt Mohr; her step-children, Carrie (Peter) Delcourt, Bruce (Carlene) Mohr, Brian (Pamela) Mohr; her brother, Corky Groth; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; son, Marty Neilson; and brother, Elliot Groth.
