Charles S. Benton Jr., 89, of Bettendorf, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9128 of Bettendorf.
Charles was born July 3, 1922 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Charles & Cecil (Harmon) Benton. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Kim T. Dao on October 12, 1968 in Saigon.
Charles retired in 1980 after 40 years of employment at the Rock Island Arsenal as a Logistics Manager.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kim; his son and daughter-in-law, Chuck & Nicole Benton of Peyton, Colorado; his grandchildren, Jacob & Sydney; and his sister, June Becker of Geneseo, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Keith; and his sister, Alice.
