Charles Monroe Butts, 80, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Charles was born on November 20, 1932 in Davenport, the son of Ashford and Dora (Riepe) Butts. On March 8, 1953 at Calvary Baptist Church in Davenport, he married Barbara Moredick.
Charles worked for John Deere Plow/Planter Works in Moline as an inspector and for the special jobs shop. He enjoyed camping, fishing and square dancing. Charles served his country in the National Guard for 15 years.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Barbara; his children, Deb (Fred) Haussmann and Scott (June) Butts, both of Bettendorf; two grandchildren, Curtis and Tyler Ritter; and his sister, Eleanor Chapman of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
