Michael was born on October 28, 1945 in Fall River, Massachusetts, the son of Charles J. and Vivian (Strong) Laws. Michael lived a life full of adventure, loyalty, and unapologetic honesty.
Michael was one of the original Harley riders, finding freedom on the open road alongside his friends. He loved nothing more than riding his bike, sharing laughs at a good party, and playfully teasing his kids and grandkids. If you wanted his opinion – or even if you didn’t – you were sure to get it.
A proud veteran, Michael served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat, a testament to his bravery and sacrifice. For over 30 years, he was a dedicated member of the Kewanee American Legion, where he found camaraderie and purpose among fellow veterans.
On August 27, 1983, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Shadrick, with whom he shared decades of memories and unwavering partnership. Michael is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his two sons, Christian (Emily) Shadrick of Kewanee and Jason Tague of LeClaire; his sister, Donna Anger of Galena, Illinois; his five grandchildren, Amanda, Anthony, Christian, Alexis, and his special little redhead, Alyssa; and his great-grandson, Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Vivian; and his younger brother, Alan, in 1962.
Michael will be remembered as a man who lived on his own terms, with a strong spirit, a sharp wit, and a heart that loved deeply. His legacy lives on in the stories, laughter, and strength of those who knew him.
Ride free Michael. You will be missed.
