Charles C. Leamer, 75, of rural LeClaire, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Trinity Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Princeton, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Scott County 4-H, the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department or to the LeClaire Fire Department.
Charles was born November 7, 1935 in LeClaire, the son of Cecil & Lettie (Bragonier) Leamer.
He was united in marriage to Frances A. Ehlers on May 23, 1958 and they spent the past fifty-two years raising their family and living on the family farm in the Argo area.
He recently retired from the Mississippi Valley Fair Grounds after twenty-one years as the Building and Grounds Manager. Charles was a long-time member of the Scott County Farm Bureau and was a past member of the LeClaire Ambulance Board, the 4-H Extension Council and the Eastern Iowa and Scott County Sheep Producers. He also served for many years as a volunteer fireman for the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department.
Charles will be long remembered for his passion to farm and willingness to always lend a helping hand to those around him. He cherished his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and his two best pals; his dogs, Cassie & Sparky.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Frances; his son, David (and special friend, Cheryl) of LeClaire; his daughters, Debora (James) Sullivan of Davenport, Diana Holst (and special friend, Randy) of Eldridge and Donna (Scott) Wiederin of Breda, Iowa; his grandchildren, Amanda (Craig) Morrison, Kati (Heath) Paulsen, Zachary Holst (and special friend, Victoria), Morgan Holst, Levi Leamer, Chase Leamer, Grant Wiederin and Kaylyn Wiederin; and two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Leighton Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Derek Sullivan.
