Charles N. Robbins, 75, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at his home.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.
He was born in Bennett, Iowa on April 24, 1939, the son of Maurice and Mary (Hale) Robbins and was a graduate of Davenport High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after two years of service.
On January 12, 1962, he was united in marriage to Linda L. Johnson in Bettendorf. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2014.
Charles was employed at Alcoa retiring several years ago after over 35 years of service.
In his spare time, he loved to play golf, took great pride in caring for his yard and in earlier years, enjoyed bowling. His family, especially his three grandchildren were the joy of his life.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Suzon Esser of Bettendorf; his son, Scott (Michelle) Robbins of Bettendorf; his grandsons, Curtis Robbins (and his fiancé, Gwen Abington), Taylor Robbins and Noble Esser; his sister, Gail (James) Maher of Avon, Illinois; and his brother, Michael (LuAnn) Robbins of Davenport, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherri Robbins-Thune; his son-in-law, Kevin Esser; and his parents.
