Charles & Delores Ewald

Delores Mae Ewald, 68, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at her home.
A joint graveside service for Delores and her late husband, Charles will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 14, 2005 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend their service should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf by 1:30 P.M. Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born October 12, 1936 in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of John & Annis (Engle) McConnell. She was united in marriage to Charles J. Ewald in Oskaloosa, Iowa on June 8, 1955. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2003.
Delores was a devoted homemaker, wife & mother. In addition, she & Charles owned & operated Boob’s Tavern in McCausland, Iowa for several years. She had also been employed at Edna’s Café, the Scrub Pup and at Donutland as well.
In earlier years, she love to go camping with her family and enjoyed an occasional visit to the gambling boats.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Melody (Clifford) Stevens of DeWitt, Iowa and Timothy (Kathy Rodgers) Ewald of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Nicole, Tom & Jenna; her mother, Annis McConnell of Bettendorf; her sister, Jonita Leenerts of Bettendorf; her brother, Roger McConnell of Mesa, Arizona; and Charles & Delores’s beloved dog, Cocoa.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Skip McConnell and Jerry McConnell; and by her father.
