Charlotte Gruwell, 82, of Eldridge, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Kahl Home in Davenport, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa, Iowa at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013 with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ottumwa at 11:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Activities Department at the Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge.
Charlotte was born July 19, 1930 in Percy, Iowa, the daughter of Jake & Ruth (Hamilton) Simbro. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Gruwell on October 19, 1951 in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2009.
Charlotte was a proud homemaker and loved her family. She had enjoyed family vacations over the years, decorating her home and watching her husband, Don make various crafts.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa & Joseph Hintze of Long Grove, Iowa and Lori & Carroll Ramsey of Park View, Iowa; her grandchildren, Bridget (Robert) Curtis, Jacob Hintze and Emily Ramsey; her great-grandchildren, Payton Curtis, Lucas Curtis and Levi Hintze; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline & Melvin Howard II of Annapolis, Maryland and Doris & Joe Knupp of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; and her brother, Russell Simbro of Glenwood, Missouri.
In addition to her husband, Don, Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Marval & Lloyd Yearns and Jaunita & Wayne Hill; and her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth & Emmie Simbro.
