Cheryl H. Sommer

Cheryl H. Sommer, 59, of Bettendorf, died Monday, November 19, 2007 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 26, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Cheryl Sommer Memorial Fund at the RIA Federal Credit Union, 4217 Utica Ridge Rd., Bettendorf, IA 52722 for a future community project or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Cheryl was born February 2, 1948 in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Carl & Carol (Hartman) Holmquist. She was united in marriage to Lou Sommer on June 23, 1979 in Bettendorf.
Cheryl was retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a Contract Specialist. She was a graduate of Bettendorf High School and the former Marycrest University in Davenport. Her interests included gardening, cooking, attending her son’s baseball and football games, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Lou; her son, Andrew, of Bettendorf; and her aunt and uncle, Dorothy & Gerald Cowells, of Bettendorf and a cousin, Jaylene Adams, of Davenport.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents.
