Obituary: Chester H. Morris
Chester H. Morris, 80, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the New Life Community Church in LeClaire. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born November 24, 1928 in Bettendorf, the son of Chester L. & Edna May (Schwerdtfeger) Morris. On September 3, 1950, he was united in marriage to Audrey Jean Keeney in Pocohontas, Arkansas. Jean preceded him in death on March 16, 1987. On October 20, 1990, he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Bozigian in Deltona, Florida.
Chester was employed at Sivyer Steel Company of Riverdale for over 37 years, retiring as an inspector several years ago.
He was a member & past-president of the Antique Ford Club, a member of the Cedar River Band and a member of the New Life Community Church.
Singing & playing music with his family & friends was a favorite activity of Chester’s. He also enjoyed restoring antique cars and playing cards. He & Dorothy served as Grand Marshalls of the Tug Fest Parade in LeClaire several years ago.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Irene (Al) Ramirez of Port Washington, Wisconsin; his sons, Chester Dal (Phyllis) Morris of Van Buren, Missouri, Jeffrey Wayne (Regina) Morris of Van Buren, Missouri and Terrence Lee (Rose) Morris of Illinois City, Illinois; his step-sons, Thomas Wayne (Michelle) Schwerdtfeger of Tacoma, Washington, George Louis Schwerdtfeger Jr. of Bettendorf, Iowa, John David (Annie) Schwerdtfeger of Corvalis, Oregon, Ronald Dean (Dawn) Schwerdtfeger of Tampa, Florida, Charles Lee (Grace) Schwerdtfeger of San Ramon, California and Steven Scott (Terri) Schwerdtfeger of Omaha, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; his sisters, June Miller of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Harriet Duncan of Van Buren, Missouri and Martha Krell of Phoenix, Arizona; his brothers, Larry (Jessie) Morris of Bettendorf, Ralph (Donna) Morris of LeClaire and Art (Vickie) Morris of Davenport; and his daughter-in-law, Judy Schwerdtfeger of LeClaire.
In addition to his first wife, his sisters, Irene, Gladys & Shirley; and his brother, Myron, preceded him in death.
