Clarence “Joe” Perron, 88, a resident of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Trinity Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Coal Valley. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Fort Armstrong Assisted Living in Rock Island.

Born on September 17, 1926 in Davenport, Joe was the son of Clarence and Clementine (Snyder) Perron. On November 12, 1948 in Rock Island, he married Eraine Mae Wickum. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2010.

Joe served his country in the United States Navy, working as a cook aboard the ship from 1943 – 1946. Joe served as a police officer for the Moline Police Department for 30 years. Following his retirement, he worked as a funeral coach driver for W & H Livery Service for five years.

Joe was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and also enjoyed fishing, playing golf and pool. He was a volunteer fire fighter while living in Arkansas. Joe was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Coal Valley and the Moline American Legion.

Those left to honor his memory include three children, Diane (Glenn) Jeffrey, Coal Valley, Patricia (Robert) Mulherin, Moline and Steve (Kathy) Perron, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Tara (Chris) Allen, Heather (Nathan) Brewer, Nicole Bussard, Brian (Megan) Mulherin, Beth (Tom) Hawkinson, Adam (Julie) Mulherin, Allison Mulherin, Andrew (Heather) Perron, Grant (Beth) Perron and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
