Clark M. “Dutch” Hartzell, 80, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 29, 2007 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be the Handicapped Development Center of Davenport or Trinity Pathway Hospice.
Dutch was born September 28, 1926 in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Clark M., Sr. & Nell (Link) Hartzell. He was a graduate of Moline High School. During World War II, Dutch served in the United States Navy and was awarded the Victory Medal, the American Area Ribbon, and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois where he received his degree in Management.
Dutch was united in marriage to Nancy Powell in Davenport, Iowa in 1952.
He was retired from Bendix/Litton where he had been an accountant. He had been a controller at the time of his retirement.
Dutch was an avid Notre Dame and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling and playing bridge.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Nancy; his daughters, Susan (Charles) Storey, of Elgin, Illinois, Margaret “Peggy” Hartzell, of Coralville, Iowa, and Linda Hartzell, of Davenport; his son, Michael (Kathy) Hartzell, of Navarre, Florida; his grandchildren, Polly, David and Michael Storey, and Connor and Kyle Hartzell; his sister, Pat Anderson, of Moline; and his brother, Jim (Jeanne) Hartzell, of Moline.
Dutch was preceded in death by his parents.
