Rev. Cleo R. Baldwin, 74, a resident of Bettendorf passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Riverview Free Will Baptist Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Riverview Free Will Baptist Church.

Cleo was born on June 11, 1939 in Nashua, IA the son of Elton H. and Florence (Hollar) Baldwin.  On June 17, 1961, he married the love of his life, Nancy C. Sales in Davenport. She preceded him in death on December 15, 2011.

Cleo served his country by enlisting in the Air Force at age 17. He later transferred to the Army and served from November 1960 – November 1963. Cleo worked for Caterpillar in Mt. Joy as a security guard and fire inspector, retiring in 1989. He also worked as a custodian for the Bettendorf School District, retiring in 2001. Cleo was a volunteer firefighter for Pleasant Valley for five years. Cleo was ordained as a minister in 1989 and served as an associate pastor for Grace General Baptist Church and later for Riverview Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a current member.

Cleo enjoyed playing on the computer and loved his church. He cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Lisa (Terry) Honeycutt of Bettendorf; his son, Tim (Kris) Baldwin of Davenport; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Elizabeth, Rebekah, Jacob, Katlynn, Tyler and Isaac and one great-grandchild on the way; two sisters, Barbara Morgan of Tampa, FL and Juanita Widner of Independence, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; five brothers and three sisters.
