Clifford A. Beckmann, 96, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Friday, August 18, 2006 at the Bettendorf Healthcare Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 21, 2006 at Davenport Memorial Park. As per Clifford’s request, there will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa, P.O. Box 418, Monticello, Iowa 52310-0418 or to a charity of the donor’s choice. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born March 15, 1910 in Davenport, the son of Albert & Emma (Fock) Beckmann. On October 20, 1945, he was united in marriage to Edna I. Martin. She preceded him in death on November 27, 1997.
Cliff retired in 1965 as 1st Assistant Chief of the Davenport Fire Department after a 30-year career as a firefighter.
His memberships included the Iowa Firefighter’s Association and the American Legion Post 26 of Davenport.
During World War II, he served in the United States Coast Guard.
Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Lois M. Bolster of Davenport; and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lauretta Schutte; and his brothers, Herman “Hank” Beckmann, Allison W. “Alfie” Beckmann, Louis J. Beckmann and Richard C. Beckmann.
