Clyde Eugene Laughlin, 86, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa deid on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettenedorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House.
He was born in Statesville, North Carolina, the son of Cyril and Fannie (Gardner) Laughlin and was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he graduated from Northwestern University at Evanston, Illinois. On August 8, 1952, he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. MacLean at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois.
Clyde was employed by the IBM Corporation, retiring in 1987 after 33 years of faithful service.
During his spare time, he love to go salmon fishing on Lake Michigan, enjoyed fishing for smelt and was an avid gardener. He also enjoyed snow skiing, dancing, playing the guitar, banjo and harmonica. There was virtually no task too large for him and he could fix just about anything. He was truly a man who lived and loved life to the fullest.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Robbie (Don) Palm of Rock Island, Illinois; his son, Mark (Jaye) Laughlin of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his grandchildren, Derek (Tera) Laughlin, Amy Jalsenius, Molly Palm (Marc Ayers) and Andrew Palm; and his great-grandchildren, Felix Jalsenius, Alexandria Jalsenius, Max Jalsenius, Sam Ayers and Dean Laughlin.
His sister, Juanita preceded him in death.
