Col. Kenneth Herman, (USAF, Ret.), 81, a resident of Arlington, Texas and formerly of Scott County, Iowa died Friday, April 2, 2004 at Kindred Hospital in Arlington.
Graveside military honors will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the service should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf by 9:30 A.M. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
He was born September 4, 1922 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, the son of Louis & Maye Gladys (Marvin) Herman. He was a graduate of Davenport High School and the University of Illinois.
After a lengthy military career, he worked in the aerospace industry and a a municipal airport manager.
Herman was the founder & past-president of the Berlin Airlift Veteran’s Associaion and was active in numerous military and aviation organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Russell Herman and his beloved wife of 45 years, Luann (Gibson) Herman.
Survivors include his daughters, Leslie Herman of Arlington, Texas and Kathleen Auld of Bellevue, Washington; and three grandchildren.
