Dale C. Seebach, 86, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at his home
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf. The family will greet friends from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the Asbury United Methodist Church for landscaping improvements. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dale was born on July 27, 1929. He was raised on the Early Dawn Farm north of Dysart, Iowa and was the youngest of three sons to Vernon and Gertrude Seebach.
He graduated from Dysart High School in 1947. He was an active member of the 4-H Club (Benton County) from 1941 to 1947 and exhibited the Benton County Champion Steer and the Reserve Champion Steer at the Iowa State Fair.
While attending Iowa State College (University), he farmed with his father and graduated with Degrees in Farm Operations and Agronomy in 1953. In 1970, he received an M.S. Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Agriculture Economics.
Dale married Carol Pieper of Dysart, Iowa in 1956 and in 2006 celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Dale was employed by the Iowa State University Extension Service from 1953 to 1988. His last position was Farm Management Specialist serving seven counties in Eastern Iowa. He also developed a lawn service company in 1977 with family involvement to assist with his children’s college and other expenses. He was also an active investor and was a charter member and President of a local investment club.
An active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, he served many years as Secretary of the Trustees and as Landscape Chair. He also took care of the church landscaping and was active as an usher for many years.
In 1993, Dale and his wife, Carol were selected to travel to Belarus (former Soviet Satellite Nation) and develop instructional programs for new farmers. Dale was an avid gardener. His specialties were roses, perennials and quality turf care. He was a loving, devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his grandchildren, Nathan (Briana) Merrill, Kelly Seebach, Brendan Seebach, Colin Seebach, Spencer Chinske and Cole Chinske; and two-great-grandchildren, Charlotte & Connor Merrill. Other interests were feeding his wild birds, coin and stamp collecting and landscaping.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carol; his daughter, Robyn (Tom) Merrill of Davenport, Iowa; his son, Randall (Kim) Seebach of Gurnee, Illinois; and his daughter, Jan (Tom) Chinske of Waukegan, Illinois; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Pat Seebach of Cresco, Iowa; and Carol’s sisters, Jean Wright and Joan Johnson, both of Springfield, Missouri and Mary Kinsey of Lindale, Texas; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Orion and Lyle; and his sister-in-law, Velda.
