Dalton A. Gates, 27, of Park View, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at his residence. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services at this time. Dalton’s family has written the following tribute in his honor.
To know Dalton Alexander was to love him yet want to pull your hair out at the same time, but that was Dalton. He could be the most challenging, naughty, snarky person, but you took that part because when you got the other side it was amazing and beautiful. He was wicked smart, loved his friends and family very much, and he was some of the most fun you could ever have. I’m sorry to everyone else but Dalton was the only person who could make me have those deep belly laughs like those awesome refreshing ones that bring you so much joy for hours on end. It was magic and if you never got to experience it you missed out on greatness.
He loved his animals just as much as friends and family. He would call me late at night or facetime me when he couldn’t sleep and we would make fun of how they were sleeping, playing or sitting like a person watching tv and he would even give them accents! It was silly but I cherished every late night talk, facetime, and phone call.
We got deep a lot, and he got sad a lot. Things weren’t easy for him growing up, but then we would laugh our butts off or he would say something so incredibly sweet and innocent it both broke and melted your heart. He will be one of my favorite people I spent this journey with and not because he is my son, but because he was Dalton. I hope everyone has a person like Dalton in their life, because even the challenges are worth it. If you took the time to actually find his heart then he loved you to death and loved you for life.
There will truly never be another person like him. He was one of those “broke the mold” kind of people. Not perfect by any means. He was human and flawed and made mistakes but that’s what humans do. He also taught great lessons on patience and love and never giving up on someone even through mistakes. He was a whole lot of fun and a whole lot of laughs and every person needs a Dalton in their life.
He will be remembered forever, and I hope you forget his flaws and remember how he made you laugh. He would spend hundreds of dollars to make a family dinner just to have everyone around him having fun and loving life or how he would send a pizza out of nowhere because he thought you would like one! We will miss how he danced, and did pranks, and his laugh….that laugh I will miss the most. So today the world lost quite a unique young man and it will be a hard loss to take.
