Dan Jennings

Dan Jennings of rural Long Grove, died peacefully, Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Genesis East with his wife and family members at his bedside. He was 85. 

Charles Daniel Jennings was born in Chicago to Charles A. and Maxine P. Jennings. He married Pat Egan in 1962 and was blessed with the pride and joys of his life, his children, Mary Pat, Sherry, Tommy and Danny. He especially enjoyed Christmas celebrations, Baptisms of each grandchild, graduations, and other milestones with his children. He was very proud of them and loved them very much. 

He began his working career at age 9 with a paper route and ended it at age 80, having been the sexton at Elmwood Cemetery for 17 years. In between he worked for Donnelly Printing in Chicago, Prudential Insurance and Safety Kleen Corp. in Davenport. 

He married Mary Hartrick in 1997, and they had 28 wonderful years together. Sadly, they went by too fast and were too short. He enjoyed golfing anywhere with the guys, fishing anywhere with the guys, or his wife, and his afternoons with his coffee buddies at Hardee’s. He will be remembered for his wry sense of humor. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Mary and his children, their seven grandchildren, Brittany, Ethan, Brandon, Kyle, Trevor, Collin, Bridget, a great-grandchild, Dylan, and a brother, Don Jennings. The Olds families in Davenport, Waukee and Denver mourn his loss as well. You earned your rest Dan. Shine on in the night Sky! Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be a family celebration of his life at a later date. 

We owe a big debt of gratitude to the entire staff of the 4th floor CSC at Genesis East for their gentle loving care for Dan and Mary during his difficult journey. And to the respiratory therapists at Genesis Home Medical, Wendy, Kris and Amy. Thank you is not enough.
