Dana Florene Otero, 57, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas. She was in Texas visiting her sister when she became ill.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. Additional services & burial will be in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri.
She was born on March 8, 1953 in Ashburn, Missouri, the daughter of James Earl & Joy Delores (Culp) Darnell. On August 28, 2004, she was united in marriage to Bennie E. Otero in Bettendorf.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Bennie; her children, Thomas (Kati) Bates of Tipton, Iowa, Larry Ray Bates of Carthage, Missouri and Sonny Lee Stone of Mark, Illinois; her step-children, Curtis (Beth) Otero of Genoa City, Wisconsin, Terry Lynn Otero of Davenport, Iowa, Wesley (Tiffany) Otero of Bettendorf and Brian Otero of Davenport; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Otero of Bettendorf; her sisters, Charlene Nieman of Texarkana, Texas, Naomi Maple of Davenport, Jackie Trosclair of Westwego, Louisiana and Goldie Shinn of Kirksville, Missouri; her brothers, James Darnell of Hannibal, Thomas Darnell of Marion, Illinois, Grant Darnell of Jefferson City, Missouri, John Robertson of Hannibal, Ralph Darnell of Muscatine, Iowa, Russell Darnell of Bowling Green, Missouri and Stephen Robertson of Canton, Missouri; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Darnell; her mother, Joy Delores Purvis, her step-father, Bennie H. Purvis, her step-mother, Carolyn Darnell and her brother, Allan Darnell.
