Darla Scholey

Darla Jane Scholey, 71, of Davenport, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Amber Ridge Assisted Living in Moline.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Rockridge School’s “Pay It Forward” Foundation.

Born on December 3, 1945 in Hampton, Iowa, Darla was the daughter of Earl and Mildred (Willig) Travis. On June 5, 1966, in Eldora, she married Jerry W. Scholey. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2003.

Darla worked as an office administrator, most recently for Trinity Logistics in Davenport.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading. Darla cherished her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Tami (Tony) Newell of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, and Candace (Roger) Chihak of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; grandchildren, Dylan (Katie), Reilly, Landyn, and Graysen Newell, Abigail, Mildred, Paul, Charles, and Quincy Chihak; great-grandson, Jaxon; siblings, Shirley (Dick) Valde, Judi (Joe) Novotny, Richard Travis, and Marnee (Jerry) Mackey.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Robert, Connie, Ron and Lynda.
