Daro A. Dick, 50 of Davenport and formerly of Long Grove, Iowa, died Sunday April 11, 2010 at his home after a short illness.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Private burial services will be in Long Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Iowa City, Iowa.
Daro was born September 22, 1959 in Davenport, the son of Richard A. & Sandra J. (Kluever) Dick. He was 1978 North Scott High School graduate and played football where he made the All-Eastern Iowa team. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Army, becoming a member of Special Forces for three years before joining the 82nd Airborne. During this time, he also learned the Arabic language.
Daro then received his Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from St. Ambrose University in Davenport. He loved his country, his teachers and his schools where he had participated in acting.
Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Richard & Sandra, of Long Grove; his sisters, Cynthia S. Frisbee, of Davenport and Andrea L. Barr, of Long Grove; his grandmother, Ardena C. Dick, of Eldridge; his nieces and nephew, Jessica & Zachary Frisbee, Amanda Broihier, and Alynn & Sarah Barr; his great-nephew, Drew Sandberg and his great-niece, Destiny Sandberg
Daro was preceded in death by his grandparents.
