David Joseph Allen, 65, died on February 19, 2023 from cancer. He lived in Bettendorf and Riverdale his entire life, the 6th of 8 children. After graduating from Pleasant Valley High School, Dave attended technical school. He most recently worked as a Lead Systems Installations Technician for over 25 years. He married Connie Schock Dubuisson in 1994. He retired in 2021.
Dave enjoyed volleyball and bowling, playing in leagues with his wife for many years. He also coached Special Olympic athletes year-round in tennis, track/field, bowling, volleyball, ice skating, golf, cross country skiing, and powerlifting. Dave was a man of few words, but was an incredible advocate and coach. He naturally radiated safety and kindness, becoming a friend and father figure to many of his athletes. He also enjoyed cooking, hiking and traveling the country, learning the history of the areas he visited, especially Civil War battlefields. He was a skilled euchre player and enjoyed playing the game with Connie and good friends, Bruce and Beth Pogue. He was famous for ensuring the rules were followed! Dave was also an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa State Cyclones.
Dave was patient, observant, and had a dry sense of humor which made him a wonderful father, grandfather, coach and friend.
He is survived by his wife Connie; daughters, Natalie (Dubuisson) Allen of Las Vegas, Nevada, Carlee Dubuisson (Nathan Keith) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Eddie of Davenport; grandchildren, Louis Marquis Williams, Matthew Dubuisson, Kam’on Jay Wakefield, William Keith and Eve Keith; his siblings, Sandy (Rich) Gerber of Surprise, Arizona, Theresa Allen of East Moline, Illinois, John (Laura) Allen of Dubuque, Iowa, Robert (Diane) Allen of Iowa City, Iowa, Jane (Bill) Weber of Riverside, Iowa, Marty (Becky) Allen of East Moline and Steve (Beth) Allen of Aurora, Colorado.
