David M. Baugh, 74, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

A service of remembrance will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf.  The family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Fourteen years ago, David received a liver transplant at the University of Iowa Hospital and in his memory, memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Foundation, Box 4550, Iowa City, IA 52244 to support Dr. Michael Voigt and the University of Iowa Liver Transplant Team.

He was born in Davenport, Iowa on September 14, 1938, the son of William A. & Naomi (Dillon) Baugh.  He graduated from Bettendorf High School and attended junior college in Moline for two years.  On June 5, 1976, he was united in marriage to Sandra K. (Honn) Bennett in Moline.

David was employed with the Street Department of the City of Bettendorf, retiring in 1999 after 39 ½ years of faithful service.

He was an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeye football and was a long-time bowler.  Golf was another favorite activity of David’s and he played in a Tuesday morning golf league for many years.  He & Sandra loved to travel and had many enjoyable trips throughout the United States.  They were members of Christ Church of the Quad-Cities in Colona, Illinois.

Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Sandra; his step-daughter, Andrea Rich of Bettendorf; his granddaughters, Miranda Rich of Bettendorf and Jennifer Copeland of LeClaire, Iowa; his brothers, William (Pat) Baugh Jr. of Tipton, Iowa and Don (Lorna) Baugh in Alabama; and several nieces & nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joyce Carle; and his step-daughter, Melissa Bennett.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Clarissa Cook Hospice House for their loving and compassionate care.
