David W. Carroll, United States Air Force Master Sergeant retired, 70, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Trinity Bettendorf, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, Iowa.
David was born September 16, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Paul V. and Mary F. (Whiley) Carroll. He was united in marriage to Rachel A. Reynolds in Titusville, Florida on July 2, 1965.
David was a long time member of the United States Air Force serving two tours in the Viet Nam war and many years in aircraft structural repair and quality control. He retired from the service in 1988.
He enjoyed many things in his life including watching birds, reading, fishing, watching racing and building model aircraft. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Rachel Carroll, Bettendorf, Iowa; his daughters, Teresa L. (Christopher Boblit) Carroll, Bettendorf, Iowa and Tammy (Tom) Corlette, Springfield, Ohio; his grandchildren, Taylor, Linnea, Tommy and Shane; his expected great-grandson, Daniel; his mother, Mary Carroll, Bettendorf, Iowa; his brothers, Stephen (Wendy) Carroll, Hampton, Iowa and Brian (Mary) Carroll, Woodbridge, Virginia and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul.
