David E. Cox, 68, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Monday, June 5, 2107 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa following a brief illness.
Private family services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born March 19, 1949 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Leo and Mary (Inman) Cox and was a 1967 graduate of Davenport Central High School. David was a U.S. Army veteran with service in Viet Nam prior to his honorable discharge.
On April 20, 1974, he was united in marriage to Linda Tulk in Long Grove, Iowa.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as the shop supervisor for Johnson Contracting of East Moline, Illinois.
In his spare time, David enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling with his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda; his daughter, Tina (Tim) Mooney of Davenport; his son, Jerry (Erika) Cox of Davenport; his grandchildren, Sierra Mooney, Taylor Mooney, Lane Mooney, CJ Cox and Willow Cox; his mother, Mary Cox of Davenport; his sister, Faye (Wayne) Bartosh of Davenport; and his brothers, Charles (Madelyn) Cox of Davenport and Kerry (Kathy) Cox of Argo, Iowa.
David was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Cox and by his father, Leo Cox.
