David E. “Halvy” Halverson, 66, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.  An additional celebration of his life will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made to The University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, The American Cancer Society or to the Humane Society of Scott County

David was born July 14, 1950 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Robert E. & Marilyn M. (Mellinger) Halverson.  He was united in marriage to Amy A. Kipp on July 6, 1996 in Bettendorf.  Dave was retired as Superintendent for Tri-City Blacktop.  He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed hunting and the time spent with his family and friends.  Halvy will be remembered for his big heart, helping others and making sure a good time was to be had by all.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Amy; his daughters, Kristine (Drew) Stull of Bettendorf and Brittney Halverson of Mankato, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Colin and Grace Stull; his sister, Sue (Bill) Rider of Pleasant Valley, Iowa; his nieces, Lynn “L.A.” (Jacob) Barker and Madeline Kipp; and his nephews, Joe Kipp and Max Mayer.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Halverson and Marilyn & John Seibel.

His family would like to express special thanks and gratitude for the doctors, nurses and staff of the University of Iowa infusion and chemo departments, particularly the “4LW” nurses who took such good care of him.
