David E. Harty, 68, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Mercy One Genesis in Davenport.
He was born in Germany on July 2, 1956, the son of Alvin G. and Esther (Northcutt) Harty. On April 21, 1997, David was united in marriage to Candace Moenck in Davenport. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2022.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1975 and after basic training, served in Germany as a vehicle mechanic. He was honorably discharged at Ft. Stewart, Georgia in 1979.
David was employed as a truck driver for many years and later, he and his wife operated the family business, “Monkey’s Riverside Pub” in Bettendorf.
He was an avid fan of Blues music, enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica, had a soft place in his heart for animals, was a martial arts enthusiast and was always interested in watching a good football game.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Alaina Harty of Erie, Illinois; his son, Kyle Pitcher in Arizona; his stepson, Eric Gibson in Ohio; several grandchildren including Nova and Hailey; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Moenck of Davenport and Ernie Moenck of East Moline, Illinois.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alvin “Butch” Harty.
