David Loete

David A. Loete, 60, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2018 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Cremation rites will follow and memorials may be made to the family.

Dave was born July 13, 1957 in Moline, the son of Albert & Joan (Waline) Loete.  A 1975 graduate of Moline High School, he graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport with degrees in accounting and business management.  Dave was united in marriage to Darcy J. Birkel on May 19, 1984 in Moline.

He was an accountant with victorystore.com and a tax return preparer with Fromi Tax Service.  He had been former manager with Bent River Brewery in Moline.

Dave was an avid reader, music lover and animal lover.  He enjoyed cheering for the Cubs and improving and adding to his model train exhibit.

His children and grandchildren have fond memories of camping and fishing.  He loved sharing all of these things with those who were important to him. Dave also enjoyed the ancient art of growing hops and brewing beer with his friends from the MUGZ Club.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Darcy; his daughters, Stephanie Loete and Angela Diehl, both of Moline; his son, Eric (Stephanie) Diehl of Waverly, Iowa; his grandchildren, Alexandria Diehl, Mari Ella Diehl-Wild and Parker Diehl; his mother, Joan Loete of Moline; his sisters, Lynne Loete (Dale Spoerl) of Dubuque, Iowa and Sharon (Dave) Hendrickx of Moline; his brother Matt (Gina) Loete of Normal, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Albert Loete and his granddaughter, Tara Chambers.
