David Earl Newsum

Funeral services for David Earl Newsum, 67, of Donahue, will be 11:00 am on Thursday, at Cornerstone Church, Eldridge, IA. Family will greet friends on Thursday from 9:30 am to service time at the Church.

David passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at his home in Donahue, IA. 

Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge is assisting family with arrangements.

David was born on October 3, 1957, on an Army Base in Wiesbaden Germany, the son of Arnold and Wilberta (Strassenburg) Newsum. He graduated from North Scott High School in 1976. He married Susan Clark on September 20, 1980, in Eldridge, IA. He worked as a master mechanic for 22 years at Oscar Mayer and 10 years at John Deere, Davenport Works. He enjoyed camping, working in his yard, fixing things, sitting by the campfire, listening to music, and driving his tractor. 

Survivors include his wife, Susan, his daughters, Rachel (Tyler) Biehl, Sarah (Kristopher) Proctor, Stephanie (Jimmy) Skadal, grandchildren, Rowen, Liam and Kaelyn Biehl, Cora and Everly Proctor, Elena, Mason and Mila Skadal, his mother, Wilberta, and sisters, Jeri Newsum and Julie (Newsum) Herath. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristen Marie Newsum, his father, Arnold Newsum, his mother-in-law, Trudi Clark, and his father-in-law Richard Clark.

Memorials may be directed to Cornerstone Church in Eldridge, Iowa.
