David B. Piehl, 64, of Long Grove, Iowa passed away following a brief illness on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
David was born on December 1, 1957 in Hutchinson, Minnesota, to Alvin and Ruth (Miller) Piehl. He graduated from Hutchinson High School. David worked for Barton Solvents in Bettendorf, and also as a painter for a local builder of new home construction. In retirement, David enjoyed fishing, sporting events, and spending time with his family. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and NASCAR fan. David was also a member of the Long Grove Sportsman’s Club. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his laughter, and his commitment to helping family and friends when needed.
Those left to honor his memory are his sisters, Pat (Bob) Waldner of Riverdale, Iowa, Joann Bezore of Henderson, Nevada, Cindy (Clint) Christenson of Hutchinson, Linda (Terry) Schmidt of Bettendorf; Pam (Steve) Forcier of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Helen Piehl of Hutchinson; and best friends, Curtis “Curty” Gay and Dennis “Petey” Peters, both of Long Grove.
David was preceded in death by his special friend and companion, Carmine Goldsberry, but is survived by Carmine’s children, Jessica (Dusty) Mizer, Brandi (Cody) Padavich, Brittany Goldsberry, William (Heather) Smith, Shawn (Dawn) Smith, and Carmine’s 12 grandchildren, all of Long Grove and Eldridge.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gene, Bob (Mary), Gary, and Kim.
