David Schmidt

David L. Schmidt, 62, a resident of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 23, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Oakdale Memorials Gardens in Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Born on October 26, 1953 in Davenport, Dave was the son of Leland “Pete” and Laura (Sager) Schmidt. He married Diana Hahn. They later divorced. On August 8, 1998 in Atkinson, Illinois, Dave married Mary Moore.

Dave worked for the former Montgomery Elevator and Escalator Company in Coal Valley for 21 years. He later worked as a semi driver for Osco Feed and Fertilizer.

Dave enjoyed watching NASCAR, working on cars, model cars, truck driving and was a great singer. He was an avid Hank Williams, Jr. fan. Dave cherished his time spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Schmidt; daughters, Sandra (fiancé, James Jennings, Jr.) Vandersnick of Princeton, Illinois and Sabrina Pittenger of Knoxville, Illinois; step-children, Josh Lee of Atkinson, Illinois and Danielle (fiancé, Ethan French) Lee of Coal Valley; grandchildren, Austin, Brittney, Kent, Ashley, Alicia and Angela; sister, Lori (John) Reyes of Bettendorf; brothers, Allen (Mary) Schmidt of Virginia and John Schmidt of Portland, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sandra and Melvin.
