David Foster Riedesel, 42, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa after a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 13, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church of Davenport where he was a member. The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born January 1, 1965 in Davenport, the son of Robert G. & Norma J. (Melson) Riedesel. He was a 1983 graduate of Davenport Central High School where he was a member of the Band, the A Capella Choir, Varsity Wrestling and Varsity Football. Following graduation, he attended Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa.
On February 24, 1990, he was united in marriage to Tracy A. Mueller in Davenport.
David was a 15-year veteran of the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged from active duty in 1998. From September of 1990 until September of 1993, he served in Panama and spent three months at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
He was a Life-Scout in Boy Scout Troop #7, a member of the Order of the DeMolay, a member of the Junior Theater, a member of the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Society and a member of Gilda’s Club.
Among the things David enjoyed were, fishing, model trains, the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team and the Miami Dolphins Football Team.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Tracy; his children, Morgan, Elisabeth & James; his mother-in-law, DeeDee Mueller of Davenport; his brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Rob & Paula Mueller of Davenport; and his special & close friends, Deb & Tim Gustafson of Davenport and Pete & LaWanda Roudebush of Davenport.
David was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Daniel.
