David L. Griebel, 57, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born June 6, 1949 in Davenport, the son of Orville L. & Clarice A. (Laschanzky) Griebel and was a 1968 graduate of Bettendorf High School. On November 25, 1972, he was united in marriage to Patricia A. Kleppe in Bennett, Iowa.
During the Viet Nam Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1971.
David was employed as a Container Fabrication Tech at the Alcoa Company, retiring in 2000 after 28 years of service.
He enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals and loved the times spent with his beloved children & grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Pat; his daughters, Tara (David Peyton) Griebel of Bettendorf and Chelsea Griebel of Bettendorf; his son, David “Luke” (Lindsay Altman) Griebel of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Zildjian, Sabian & Easton; his sisters, Sandy Warner of Dixon, Iowa, Bonnie Johnson of Bettendorf and Dawn Fetters of Davenport; and his brother, Orville “Butch” Griebel of Davenport.
David was preceded in death by his son, Chad; his parents; and his brothers-in-law, Dennis Warner and Carrol Johnson.
