David P. Felsing, 61, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, June 13, 2005 at the First Assembly of God Church, Bettendorf. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born August 10, 1943 in Laurens, Iowa, the son of Paul & Mary (Leonard) Felsing. He was united in marriage to Sharon Amfahr in Jessup, Iowa in 1968.
David was employed at the U.S. West Telephone Company, retiring as an engineer in 1996 after 31 years of faithful service.
He served in the U. S. Marine Corps for four years and was honorably discharged on August 13, 1965.
David had a love for music and played the trumpet for many years with such bands as the Bettendorf Park Band, Scotch & Soda, Picker Pluckers, the Dixie Cats and Just Friends. He was a devoted & active member of the Quad-City Regional Musician’s Association.
His hobbies & interests included woodworking, leathercraft, bird watching and motorcycle riding.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Sharon; his sons & daughters-in-law, Daniel & Julie Felsing of Chicago, Illinois, Jerry & Cretia Felsing of Walcott, Iowa, Gary & Windy Felsing of DeWitt, Iowa and Shawn & Amy Felsing of LeClaire, Iowa; nine grandchildren; his mother, Mary Felsing of Hiawatha, Iowa; three sisters; two brothers; and two grand-puppies, Kinley & Piper.
David was preceded in death by his father, Paul Felsing; and by his granddaughter, Stormy.
