Dean Davis

Dean K. Davis, 91, a resident of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be two hours prior to services on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Handicapped Development Center or Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

Born on August 31, 1926 in Cleghorn, Iowa, Dean was the son of Franklin and Opal (Kinzel) Davis. On August 23, 1950 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Davenport, he married Delores J. Mikkelsen.

Dean served his country in the United States Army Air Corp and the United States Air Force from 1943-1952. He worked as a machinist for Alcoa for 40 years; and was actively involved in United Steelworkers Local 105 in Bettendorf. Dean’s passion in life was bowling; serving as past president of the Greater Davenport Bowling Association. He enjoyed golfing, softball, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan. Dean was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, De; children and their spouses, Deana and Jim Wagner of Bettendorf, Darrell and Kay Davis of Davenport, and Denise and Mike Kuebler of Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren and their spouses, Nicole and Jason Wold, Courtney and Amer Brankovic, Kelsey and Jay Schmitz, and Joe and Kaytlyn Kuebler; step-grandchildren and spouse, Nick Hofer, Danielle and James Crull, Trey Hofer, and Amelia Torres; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Keith and Ken.
