Dean Jones

Dean Allen “Skeet” Jones, 65, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015 at his home, after a battle with cancer.

At his request, there will be no visitation held. A graveside service celebrating his life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.

Born on August 25, 1949 in Moline, Illinois, Skeet was the son of Doyle and Phyllis (Johnson) Jones. On June 13, 1983 in Davenport, he married Bonetta Goldsberry.

Skeet was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Pepper. He also enjoyed having coffee with his buddies at Ross’s Restaurant.

Skeet served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his retirement from the Army, he enlisted in the National Guard. Skeet worked for 30 years at Olson Engineering.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Bonetta; daughters, Jennifer (Kip) Jones-Loui of St. Louis, Missouri and Jennifer Wooldridge of Davenport; sons, Tony (Janiece) Goldsberry of Bettendorf, Lee Fersch of Bettendorf and David Henry of Davenport; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Connie (John) Wiemers of Muscatine; brothers, Gary (D. D.) Jones of Davenport and Kevin (Laura Riojas) Jones of Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
