Deanna J. ‘D” Harm, 73, of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus in Davenport, Iowa after complications of a quadruple heart bypass.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Deanna was born December 14, 1940 in Washta, Iowa, the daughter of Dick & Opal (Conley) Cowan and was a 1958 graduate of Washta High School.  She was united in marriage to Larry J. Harm on June 28, 1959 in Washta.  From this union, came their son, Jeffrey Harm who passed away in 2005.

Deanna began her employment in Ames, Iowa with an electronics plant while Larry was in college.  She then worked for many years with the Bettendorf Community School District as a bookkeeper.  After retirement, she was employed at Hy-Vee in Bettendorf.  She and Larry had also worked for Mickey’s County Café in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.  Additionally, she had also volunteered for elections for the Scott County Auditor.

Deanna enjoyed shopping and her most recent favorite pastime was to drive around looking at deer.  She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Larry; her sister, Beth Hueschen of Holstein, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Tracy Harm of Des Moines, Iowa;  her grandchildren, Rhianna, Ryan and Casey; her sisters-in-law, Donna Seabloom of Pierson, Iowa and Sandra Wright of Correctionville, Iowa; and many close friends, including Bill & Mickey Kosgard, Denny and Shirley Richlen and Reggie McGill.

In addition to her son, Jeffrey, Deanna was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Judith Frahm.

The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Genesis East Intensive Care Unit for all their care and concern during this time.
